Job Summary

The Events Specialist provides strategic direction, planning, and execution for special events at Seattle Goodwill. Partner with both internal and external stakeholders to increase community awareness and support for Seattle Goodwill's mission and to enhance fundraising efforts. This role coordinates and provides direction to contractors, vendors, interns, and volunteers.

 

Essential Functions:

Work with Philanthropy Department staff and other SGI departments to develop the strategic vision of fundraising and community engagement events throughout the year.

Manage all details of event planning, including site selection, contract negotiation, staffing needs, catering, decorations, collateral, printing, procurement, prize acquisition, and more.

Engage partnering organizations, donors, volunteers, and fashion enthusiasts through event participation.

Manage the annual Glitter Gala & Fashion Show, including but not limited to: all event logistics, venue selection, marketing and communication, program development, budgeting, the fashion show, cocktail hour activities, vendor management, and all event dcor.

Collaborate with various work groups, while implementing departmental initiatives to reach overall organizational goals.

Book and coordinate public and private Vintage Fashion Collection events.

Evaluate events and make recommendations for improvements.

Represent Seattle Goodwill Industries at various community events.

Demonstrate safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; report any potential hazards or accidents.

Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or GED required. Associates or Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 4 years' experience overseeing large scale events with ability to act quickly to resolve problems and the ability to negotiate with vendors for most favorable terms. Relevant fields include event management, fundraising, and community engagement. Candidates with fashion industry or fashion history experience and experience working with volunteers are preferred.

Specific Skills/Knowledge: Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Experience with CRM and/or event management software programs a plus. Positive demeanor and demonstrated follow through. Public speaking and presentation skills.

 

Essential Physical Abilities:

Lifting and carrying 25 pounds; Developed fine motor control (grasp, handle, manipulate objects with fingers).

Regular bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing and climbing ladders. Able to travel across a variety of surfaces (stairs, ramps, uneven terrain).

Working Conditions:

Retail/Production and office working environment, moderate noise level and dust.
